| Greetings,
Welcome to this Web link in recognition of CSD's official sponsorship of the 2007 Winter Deaflympics! During Feb. 1-10, 2007 we will be welcoming deaf and hard of hearing athletes and fans from all over the world to Salt Lake City, Utah for the 16th Winter Deaflympics. What an exciting time this promises to be for Deaf America … and for the entire Deaf World!
At this time, 22 countries have committed to participating and they will be sending
representatives to compete in five of the game’s most popular winter sports. Athletes
will compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in Skiing, Snowboarding, Cross
Country, Ice Hockey and Curling.
CSD is a proud to be a premier gold sponsor of the 2007 Winter Deaflympics. We
supported the 15th Winter Deaflympics in Sundsvall, Sweden in 2003 and the 20th
Summer Deaflympics in Melbourne, Australia in 2005, and now as a gold sponsor for
the event, the highest level of sponsorship attainable—we hope to convey the level of
support and commitment that we have and to show how much CSD believes in the
mission and the ideal of the Winter Deaflympics and everything that these
competitive games represent. Together, with all of the other sponsors, donors,
volunteers, event planners, athletes and fans, we are sure to make history in 2007.
This is an opportunity for the world's greatest deaf athletes to compete against
each other for world-class status. I share the sentiments and wishes of my good
friend, Dr. Bobbie Beth Scoggins, president of the USA Deaf Sports Federation, by
proclaiming the Olympic motto, “Citius, Altius, Fortius†– which translated from Latin
to English means, “Swifter, Higher, Stronger†– to all of the Deaflympians who intend
to join us in February.
Again, we are excited to be a part of this worldwide event and hope that
everyone who participates will come away with once-in-a-lifetime type memories. My
very best wishes to all and see you in Salt Lake City Feb. 1-10, 2007.
Warmest regards,
Benjamin Soukup
CSD Chief Executive Officer
