Position Description:
Provide sign language interpreting service for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing consumers based in a variety of settings including but not limited to Legal, Medical, Mental Health, Employment, Educational, Platform, Individual, and Video Interpreting Online. The Staff Interpreter will report to CSD MN Interpreter Operations Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Provide sign language interpretation to customers requesting interpreting services in the community (Legal, medical, employment, educational, platform, individual, etc).
- Provide video remote interpreting service between Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing consumers.
- Interpret internal interpreting requests as needed.
- Comply with policies and procedures as outlined by CSD’s Interpreting Division.
- Maintain strict consumer confidentiality.
- Cover On-call shifts for emergency needs as requested by Interpreting Manager.
- Other projects/duties as assigned by Interpreting Manager.
Qualifications:
- National NAD Level 4/5; RID CI&CT, CSC or NIC Certified, Advanced or Master.
- Must have a good working knowledge of interpreter code of professional conduct.
- 3-5 years interpreting experience in a variety of settings.
- Experience with Video Interpreting preferred.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture.
- Good articulation and voicing skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Sensitivity to consumer needs.
- Must be willing to travel and possess reliable form of transportation
